Useful information
Why we love this bike: A real, honest-to-goodness Enduro bike at a great price.
This thing goes! Big mountains, epic passes, and all-day ripping descents. If you live for the alpine adventure and gravity-fueled downhills, look no further than the all-new Alpine Trail series. The latest incarnation of Marin’s critically acclaimed MultiTrac platform, and built around long travel suspension, slack angles, and 29” wheels, the Alpine Trail is here to conquer all single-track in its path. Equally adept on the Enduro World Series as on your local trails, the Alpine Trail is a surprisingly affordable bruiser that will blow you away not only by its handling dynamics but by its ride-all day dependability.
Suspension overview:
Fork 160mm:
RockShox Yari RC 29”, 160mm of Travel, Air Sprung, Debonair, Rebound and Compression Adjust, Fast Black Stanchions, 110x15mm Maxle Stealth, 51mm Offset. Yari brings Lyrik’s acclaimed look and proven features – 35mm chassis, Fast Black upper tubes and new DebonAir™ air spring – to a wider audience. The Motion Control™ damper features Rapid Recovery™ rebound and its high-speed compression circuit is tuned to match the feeling of the Charger™ damper.
Rear shock:
X-Fusion O2 PRO RXC, 205x65mm, Rebound Adjustment, Lock Out, Trunnion Upper Mount, 25mm x M8 Lower Mount. The 02 series line of shocks see a host of changes including a new air canister design which adds 15% more air for smoother ramp up, increased tuning options with three different size air-can volume spacers, larger and more ergonomic knobs to allow for easier access to the adjustments, and a new name: 02 Pro. Developed over a two year period with the help of pro racer Brian Lopes, the 02 Pro line has a model for every occasion. Pick between models that feature multiple stage compression adjustment, on the fly lockout, or even a handlebar remote lock out. FEATURES New air sleeve provides a lower air-spring compression ratio for a more linear. New compression and rebound tunes for better small bump sensitivity and maximum efficiency. Optional 7-Piece mounting hardware system offers superior strength, reduced drag, and ensures longer bushing life. Sized eyelet bushings ensure a smooth and consistent mounting system straight from the factory.
Proprietary technology highlights:
Series 4 aluminium frame
Alpine Trail models feature Series 4 aluminum frames, with detailed forgings, highly manipulated tubes, and full internal cable routing, giving the rider the highest-end alloy frame that Marin offers.
One piece forged rocker
The heart of the Alpine Trail’s MultiTrac suspension is the forged and welded one-piece rocker link. The strength and stiffness of the rocker keeps the rear of the bike tracking straight, providing smooth suspension operation under the most demanding conditions.
Bridgeless seatstay
The stiffness of the one-piece rocker link allows for a bridgeless seat stay design, offering zero compromises on stiffness while at the same time allowing for maximum tire clearance and short chainstays.
Dynamic angles
The Alpine Trail has a slack head tube angle paired with a steep seat tube angle and long reach to provide the best modern trail bike experience. The bike lets you climb better than ever before while giving you even more confidence when descending.
