Useful information
- While aerodynamics was paramount in the development of the new Tarmac and in the development of all our racing bikes, weight has always taken a back seat in this development. In the past, "aerodynamic bikes" were always synonymous with weight compromises - the more drag you reduced, the more weight you added. With the new Tarmac SL7, our design philosophy was to keep it at or below the out-of-the-box UCI weight limit, but without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like FEA (finite element analysis) and some engineering wizardry from the best engineers in the business, we've come up with a chassis that weighs just 920 grams, without giving up an ounce of aerodynamics, stiffness or handling.
-
Continuing our quest to develop the most accomplished Road bike possible, we've used our Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to ensure that the new Tarmac is the most balanced and maneuverable Tarmac yet, whatever its size. With the support of riders from our three World Tour teams - SD Worx, Soudal - Quick Step and Bora-Hansgrohe - we made modifications to the Tarmac based on feedback from thousands of miles on the road riding it. We've balanced the frame's behavior so that even the longest days in the saddle are comfortable, without sacrificing the Tarmac's legendary handling and unparalleled dynamism.
- Building on the lessons learned from the Venge, the new Tarmac SL7 uses simple integration to create a cockpit that's both streamlined and efficient. We've improved hose routing for all configurations - mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round hangers, etc. - while retaining its aerodynamic attributes. These same features also make the new Tarmac easy to maintain and practical for everyday use. It's a win-win situation.
