A favourite comedian among Quebecers, Martin Matte took up the cause of head injuries following one of the hardest trials of his life: his brother Christian’s head injury in a car accident.
The Fondation Martin Matte was set up in 2007 to provide a better quality of life for his brother and other victims of head injuries. Its primary mission? Build a home that could provide a supportive living environment for people with traumatic brain injuries. Since the opening of the very first Martin Matte home, the comedian has pursued his mission by opening seven other facilities for a total of eight homes in different regions in Quebec.
The Beaux 4 heures event was created to support the Fondation Martin Matte’s projects. Combining the fun of sports and the outdoors with pursuing the Foundation’s mission, Les Beaux 4 heures challenge raises funds that are then distributed to finance the fondation Martin-Matte’s projects; namely, adapted housing and the respite and recreation program for people living with a head injury or physical disability. In eight years, Les Beaux 4 heures has raised $3.5 million.
How to participate in the Beaux 4 heures?
There are two ways to participate in the fundraiser. The first is to take part in the event on February 10, 2024, at Sommet Saint-Sauveur by forming a team of four people. Together, they will raise as much money and make as many runs as they can. Registration closes on January 28, 2024.
Did you miss the registration to participate in the event at Sommet Saint-Sauveur? The Beaux 4 heures team has got you covered! Form a team of four participants, and engage in an activity of your choice for four hours. This option includes more sports enthusiasts, and each team member can choose their activity. This component takes place from January 10 to February 10, 2024, and registration closes on February 7.
Registration fees apply to both components of the event. However, they are deducted from the team’s total fundraising goal—i.e., $1,300 for adults and $700 for participants under age 18.
The Beaux 4 heures is a great chance to get together with family and friends to play outdoors while rallying to a cause. All funds go directly to the Fondation Martin Matte.

Why did Oberson get involved with the Beaux 4 heures?
At Oberson, social commitment and collaboration are part of our DNA. That’s one reason why we decide to get involved in various fundraising events, such as the Beaux 4 heures. For us, encouraging people to take part in winter sports like alpine skiing is part of our mission, especially when doing so raises funds for a foundation like Martin Matte’s. Our goal remains to support causes that will allow both adults and children to enjoy a better quality of life. We’re proud to support the Martin Matte Foundation by being partners with the Beaux 4 heures event. In fact, Oberson has formed two teams to take on the challenge. You can support our teams online.
