Multiple ski seasons living the dream, skiing the slopes and the glades, taking care of their Raccoons, a winter well spent at the mountain, with the goggle tan to prove it. Passion is in their DNA.

You probably know Raccoon, the Quebec ski manufacturer. You might have noticed the colourful skis on the slopes, through the trees or on a touring trail. The founding members, Sébastin Moquin and Jonathan Bourgeois, both racing and carving enthusiasts, were inspired by this discipline when they created their first models. However, they quickly realized that the Quebec trend was not towards new racing skis. Freeriders were a better target audience to launch the first Raccoon alpine skis.

You probably know Raccoon for the performance of their skis, the unique sensation they give you during a run, but you probably also heard some delamination stories or cosmetic problems.

Because yes, in the early years, the company’s well-meaning founders wanted to stand out by using transparent bases that were dyed afterwards. They didn't know that dyeing would cause the bases to peel off after just a few uses. However, to honour their brand and keep their passionate customers happy, each delaminated pair of skis was replaced by a new one.

Of course, it was hard for the company’s bottom line. However, this experience has allowed them to improve their construction, how they create a new model, and to be more cautious in large-scale product launches. Because of this early test, they are where they are today: creating a new collection for 2023, new models and cosmetics, being able to hire five reps on the road, and keeping their business rolling right here at home.

After a decade of marketing, the biggest challenge for a Quebec ski manufacturer is to get consumers to consider local brands when purchasing a new pair of skis and trying what is made in Quebec. That's precisely the goal they set for themselves from the get-go. Because when it comes to offering premium Quebec skis that are right up there with other international brands, Raccoon does that exceptionally well.

«To me, the Chinook is a model that offers versatility for my skiing style. It's light enough for the longest touring climbs while being responsive and stable. It allows me to ski at the resort after a good snowfall and hors-piste where it’s at its best! So much fun to ski!»
