2. Extra lenses for your goggles
Leaving with your ski goggles is definitely a must but extra lenses also needs to be appear on your list of things to bring. Depending on your destination of choice, think about bringing different coloured lenses so you always have a clear view no matter the weather conditions. Also, additional lenses in your luggage will make your life easier in the event of a breakage.
3. Base layers: synthetic and merino
Because you can’t rely on the long term forecast, it’s imperative that you bring more than one type of base layer. Their super power is to keep you warm and wick sweat away from your body. Compact and easy to use, it insures that your equipment is nice and dry for the next day. You can even use it during lunch to have dry mitts and boots in the afternoon!
5. Insulated mid layer
When travelling, you must be ready for changing weather conditions! Having an insulated mid layer will insure that you adapt to anything. Compressible, versatile and lightweight, you can wear it as extra insulation on cold days on the slopes and, why not, as a jacket for a night on the town! When you’re travelling an insulated mid-layer is a must.
6. Outer layer
To complete your layering system, which is especially useful during long days in the mountains, consider bringing an outer layer, which is also called a shell. It will keep you warm and, most important, dry during those heady days with heavy snowfall. In addition to protecting you from the elements, such as wind and snow, it will allow you keep the good times rolling. Its lightness and small size make it an essential item to slip into one of your suitcases.
7. Two pairs of gloves or mittens
It can be very useful to have two pairs of gloves or mittens. A long day of ripping down the slopes means humidity and sweat, which can lead to cold hands. To avoid an early end to the fun, keep a second pair of gloves or mittens with you. Take advantage of your lunch break to swap them out, so you can head back out to carve up the slopes while staying nice and dry!
