History

Rossignol is a ski brand that has truly stood the test of time. Abel Rossignol founded the company in Voiron, Isère in 1907, when he began making wooden skis for himself and fellow enthusiasts, laying the foundation for the iconic brand. The company would go on to define modern skiing. In the 1960s, it pioneered metal skis such as the Allais 60, which carried Jean Vuarnet to Olympic gold in 1960. It also helped popularize fibreglass laminate skis, such as the Strato, which sold over a million pairs.

Today, Rossignol continues to shape the future of snow sports with innovative skis, boots, snowboards, and cross-country gear, along with stylish winter clothing and urban outerwear. True to its Alpine roots, the brand blends top-level performance, distinctive design, and a strong commitment to sustainability across its collections.

Timeless Alpine Spirit, Modern Style

Rossignol combines a timeless Alpine spirit with cutting-edge technology, uniting classic elegance and high-level performance. Every product is designed to help you experience the mountains with intensity and joy. The company’s blend of tradition and modern thinking has one goal: to help you feel and share that Alpine magic wherever you ski or ride.

Key Rossignol Technologies

Alpine skis

Air Tip 2.0
This unique tip design makes turning feel easier and more controlled by reducing swing weight and absorbing bumps where the ski first hits the snow. A dampening layer filters out chatter and vibrations, helping you stay balanced and channelling power more efficiently into every turn.

Line Control Technology (LCT)
Line Control Technology adds a vertical power rail inside the ski’s wood core to keep it stable and smooth, even at high speeds. By preventing unwanted flex, it helps the ski stay in constant contact with the snow, giving you tenacious edge grip and confident control.

Carbon Alloy Matrix
The Carbon Alloy Matrix uses an advanced blend of carbon and basalt fibres woven through the ski to boost power, edge grip, and stability without adding extra weight. This special layer absorbs vibrations and keeps flex balanced from tip to tail, giving you a smooth, strong, playful feel.

Alpine Ski Boots

Dual Core Technology
Dual Core Technology uses a unique shell construction that combines softer and stiffer plastics in just the right places. This gives the boot lively rebound, precise power transfer, and a responsive feel.

Spine Link Mechanism
The Spine Link Mechanism makes Rossignol’s Vizion alpine boots some of the easiest to get on and off. When locked, it holds the steel spine in place for full skiing support. When released, it opens the boot wide, so you can easily slide your foot in or out.

Generative Design Structure
Rossignol uses advanced computer modelling to shape the boot shell for the best balance of strength and weight. By thinning the shell walls where possible and reinforcing key zones, this design keeps the boot light and comfortable without sacrificing power and support.

Cross-Country Skis

Nomex® Honeycomb Core
Rossignol uses an advanced honeycomb core made from ultralight aramid fibres, giving the ski impressive strength without adding weight. This high-tech design keeps performance powerful and responsive for skiers who want an elite, race-ready feel.

Activ Cap
Active Cap construction combines a flexible top layer with multidirectional fibreglass. This gives the ski a smooth, forgiving flex from tip to tail while staying strong and stable so you can glide easily over changing snow conditions without losing control.

R-Skin
R-Skin tech uses a replaceable mohair insert that’s integrated into the ski’s kick zone for reliable grip and smooth glide on every stride—no kick wax needed.

Sustainability Efforts

Rooted in the Alps for over a century, Rossignol knows its future depends on protecting the mountains we love. Its Respect program tackles every step of the product life cycle, from measuring impact to designing recyclable skis, cutting CO₂ emissions, and using recycled, certified, or bio-sourced materials wherever possible. With local production powered by mostly renewable energy, PEFC-certified wood cores, and the open-source design of the 77% recyclable Essential ski, Rossignol aims to inspire real change across the industry. From reforestation to recycled packaging, the goal is simple: to help ensure future generations can leave fresh tracks on healthy, snowy mountain ecosystems.
