Snowboard bindings
Snowboard bindings that match your style, board, and level of riding make every run more enjoyable. Oberson carries options for men, women, and kids from trusted brands, such as such as Burton, Ride and K2. and more are available. Whether you’re making your first turns or taking on advanced terrain, you’ll find the right binding.
Snowboard bindings are a direct connection to your board. They influence board feel and control. Flex is one of the main factors in this regard. Flex is usually rated on a scale of 1 to 10 (or sometimes 1 to 5), with lower numbers indicating softer, more forgiving bindings and higher numbers marking stiffer, more responsive ones. Softer models are forgiving and manoeuvrable; they’re ideal for beginners and freestyle riders. Stiffer ones deliver the precision and responsiveness freeriders or advanced snowboarders look for at speed or in variable conditions. Many riders prefer a medium flex for versatile all-mountain bindings that balance comfort and control. These bindings work well for those who want to ride groomers and glades, do some side hits, and take a few laps in the snow park all in one day.
To get the most out of your setup, it’s best to match the flex of your bindings with that of your board. Pair soft with soft for playfulness and stiff with stiff for power and precision.
There are a few main binding types. Traditional strap bindings use two ratchet straps across the ankle and toe, offering reliable support and adjustability. Rear-entry models feature a fold-down highback for quicker step-in. Step-on systems let you click straight into them with compatible boots. Splitboard-specific bindings are also available for backcountry riders. They’re designed to switch between climbing and riding modes for efficient touring and reliable performance on the way down.
Bindings need to match your boot size, holding snugly without pinching or too much play. Check manufacturers’ size charts to find the right size. If you are at the extreme ends of the size range, step into the bindings with your boots to be sure they fit properly.
Mounting systems also vary between boards. The most common are 2x4 and 4x4 insert patterns. The latter are now found mainly on kids’ and entry-level boards and have fewer stance options. Burton’s Channel system uses two slots that run underfoot, letting you fine-tune both stance width and foot angle while keeping the board’s natural flex. EST bindings are designed to work exclusively with the Channel. Many brands now offer universal discs to fit almost any setup. Be sure to confirm compatibility so your setup performs the way it should.
