Sweet Protection’s roots lie in a garage in Trysil, a small Norwegian mountain village. In that small space, one of the company’s founders, Ståle N. Møller, and his friends built skateboards to pursue a sport that was illegal in the country at the time. Over the years, they branched into outdoor activities, and the tight-knit crew of hardcore athletes created the equipment they needed. As the pastime turned into a full-fledged business, their rebellious spirit evolved into a desire to provide next-level protection with an edgy yet sleek aesthetic.
What began as a rebellious passion project grew into a brand with a clear purpose: “To create superior protection inspiring people to push their boundaries.” That vision drives everything they do as they seek to provide athletes with the safest, most advanced protective gear in outdoor sports. To achieve their goal, they hew to the simple watchwords “Stronger. Lighter. Better.” This bold, streamlined approach translates into gear that far exceeds standards and a minimalist style with attitude.
Sweet Protection is constantly refining their gear to go beyond the highest standards of performance, safety, and design. Helmets feature advanced technologies, such as multi-density EPS liners, the Occigrip fit system for precise adjustment, and the 2-layer MIPS® system for added rotational impact protection. Their next-generation helmets incorporate the 2Vi® technology platform, developed in-house to improve impact absorption, fit, and comfort without adding weight or bulk. Goggles include the company’s own RIG® lens technology to enhance contrast, minimize colour distortion, and reduce eye fatigue, along with GORE® Protective Venting to stabilize pressure between lenses. Mountain bike pads use lightweight visco-elastic materials for flexibility and impact absorption.
The brand develops and tests products in close collaboration with a team of elite athletes, including Olympians, X Games competitors, and big mountain skiers. Their testing and input ensure that the equipment performs under pressure in extreme environments.
Responsibility
For Sweet Protection, protection end with gear. The company is also committed to reducing its environmental impact—using sustainable materials where possible, phasing out harmful chemicals, and working with ethically audited factories. It’s all part of a broader effort to help safeguard the mountain playground that inspires everything they make.
