Why I run
I run because it makes me feel good, both physically and mentally. It’s my time to unplug, sort out my thoughts, and unplug. I also love pushing myself and seeing everything my body is capable of.
My running surface(s)? (pavement, trail, gravel)
Mostly on the road, since I’m training for half-marathons. I love alternating between road speed and the more adventurous side of trails.
My state of mind when I run
It depends on the outing. My long zone 2 runs with friends are moments of joy and connection. But I love running alone just as much—being alone with my thoughts, enjoying the silence, and simply being in the moment. It reminds me how lucky I am to be healthy and able to train.
My best running memory
My Montreal half-marathon, where I ran a 1:31. It was a race where I felt strong from start to finish, and it gave me confidence in what I’m capable of. I surprised myself—I’d underestimated my own abilities. I felt an immense, satisfying feeling of pride.
My running soundtrack
Most of the time, I run without music. I like hearing my breathing, the sounds around me, and being fully in the moment. Otherwise, I mostly listen to upbeat music that gives me energy.
My favourite place to run
I love running on Boulevard Gouin, especially along the water. It’s a place where I can really unplug while staying close to the city. I also love Mont Royal as a bit of nature right in the heart of Montreal. And whenever I travel, going for a run is a must—it’s my favourite way to discover a new destination, see places you wouldn’t otherwise see, and start the day.
Where I dream of running
In the Dolomites, Italy. The landscapes look incredible, and I’d love to run there just as much as bike there. Otherwise, running the Boston Marathon someday.
Why I do (or don’t) race
I’ve always done competitive sports, so I thrive on goals and challenges. Competitions give me extra motivation to train, and I love the whole process leading up to race day. What I especially love about running is that my performance rests entirely on me: the work I put into training, my preparation, and how I manage the race. It’s a sport where I can constantly push myself and measure my own progress, without comparing myself to others.
What I value most in a running partner
People who make the kilometres easy, who encourage without adding pressure, and with whom I can have a great conversation just as easily as run a few kilometres in silence. Sport is the most unifying thing there is.
The runner who inspires me most
There’s no single person who inspires me. I’m mostly inspired by ordinary people who pursue their goals despite the obstacles—whether that’s a first 5K, a marathon, or a comeback after an injury. People who keep getting out there despite busy lives, who manage to find balance and still perform. That’s what motivates me most.
